The kreth are separated into the alphas and the matriarchs.  The alphas stay on the forest floor fighting abominations and each other for the title of alpha prime.  They spend all thier days hunting and looking for the next fight, where they can push the limits of thier hunting prowess.  Those who ascend to the rank of alpha prime are chosen by the matriarchs to propgate thier species.
