Ancestral Relics
The Eindal have over the years evolved an affinity for life and death. While in our reality it would be called necromancy and be considered a practice of evil, it is actually a benevolent practice in Feyalis. The Eindal are allowed to live very casual lives with a strong focus on progression due to the majority of busy work being done for them. This work is finished by animated Eindal who had strong enough souls upon death to fuel their skeletons forever. These Eindal are called Relics.
When an Eindal becomes sick or too old to be functional the weavers pay a visit. These weavers gauge the value of the person’s life and evaluate its standing in the afterlife. Many of the weaker souls are used to power the Weavers ability to heal the sick and wounded so they may live full lives, while others are stored in the Darksphere until they are ready to be placed in a body. Those that are strong enough for reincarnation have their names written in the log of relics, and are taken for restoration. The bodies are cleaned, decorated, and adorned with expensive clothing to be ready for their soul to be returned.
These bodies are stripped down to the bare skeleton. The bones have gems fused with the bones in key areas to make them as appealing to look at as possible. Much of the families wealth is reflected in the body, as reincarnating your family will act as a landmark in your your family tree. Above all else the Eindal family’s stature is paramount, and by adorning the families Relic is a way of showcasing power and wealth. Some of the bones have precious metals fused to the bones for strength and utility, as being a skeleton hardly allows for clothing to fit as normal. Once the skeleton has been prepared the highest quality of fabrics and leathers make up its attire. Once this is all complete the relic is ready to be reunited with its soul.
Not all souls are treated the same as their lives were all very different. The stronger the soul the more of who that person was still remains intact after reincarnation. Men of strength and military background will be outfitted for their role in combat and others will continue their profession like skilled machine workers. They may still have gems and precious metal adorning the skeleton, but their garb will be more in line with who they were when alive. None the less even militant relics will still be dressed in high quality armor and bar beautiful to behold.
Once animated they will continue to act as part of their family and perform duties as instructed by the family or the weaver. The souls still vie for affection from the weavers and follow instructions based off of a bazaar love they have for them. They will remain this way forever or until their souls is depleted, which in most cases is hundreds of years.
Gameplay:
The Relics will act as the main shock troop and fighting force for the Eindal. Lead by the weavers they will take the brunt of damage in combat and be resistant to NRV damage. Special mechanics will allow them to become very powerful when a weaver has joined the unit, and the weavers will have abilities that allow for the Relics to become more sustainable. Without this assistance they will be expensive and largely ineffective compared to other factions troops.
This artwork was again done by Michael R Schneider. he has been a major contributor and his work is always excellent. I encourage you to check out his portfolio which can be found on the party page.
